Sustainability and Social Impact
Agents for social and
environmental change
Project To Be is committed to the transition to sustainability and the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (United Nations) into its business and educational model.
We believe it is the duty of all institutions – public and private – to contribute to a planned effort to meet the SDGs and to maintain a more positive impact on the planet and people.
We adopt objectives in the environmental, social and governance areas, aligned with our mission, vision and values.
We give social impact a central role in our educational mission, assuming our schools as active agents of change in the communities to which they belong, educating students to exercise lifelong citizenship and involving families in actions with effective impact.
To Be Schools include in their Educational and Curricular Projects and in their Annual Activity Plans, events, projects and activities with a social impact, mobilising educational communities and establishing partnerships in local communities. They organise an annual Impact Report, which they deliver to families.
Every two academic years, a central To Be theme is identified for the development of a large project transversal to all To Be educational communities. These projects involve all students, employees, teams and community partners in activities and events with social impact, in the environmental or social areas. They include local activities – organised by each To Be School– and central Project To Be activities – organised cooperatively by all schools.
Project To Be advocates a pedagogy for sustainability, which involves the entire To Be educational community and encompasses citizenship education activities and projects with students, sessions for parents, staff training, development of To Be interschool collaborative projects, among other actions.
Be Blue Project
The BE BLUE Project – For a bluer Ocean and an always green planet mobilised the educational communities from all the To Be schools for the cause of protecting the Ocean.
Numerous scientific-pedagogical, field and artistic activities were developed in schools and in public places in the community, in partnership with personalities and entities linked to the sea.
Be Blue involved the active participation of students, educational communities and local communities across all To Be Schools.
At the end of this project, several interschool initiatives were organised:
- Recording of the Be Blue Hymn
- Making of Be Blue Documentary
- Final Be Blue Exhibition
- Launch of the e-book Manual of Good Sustainability Practices Be Blue
Every school year, the To Be community celebrates Be Blue Day with an activity alluding to the project’s theme.
Be Kind Project
The BE KIND Project – A bridge between Generations sensitised the educational communities of To Be Schools about the importance of the interaction between the different generations, in building a more supportive and inclusive society.
Its main purpose was to mobilise students, educational and local communities for the development of initiatives that promote the gathering and sharing between generations.
To Be Schools joined forces with various entities from local communities to organise intergenerational dynamics. The grandmothers and grandfathers of the To Be families visited our schools, sharing memories, knowledge and experiences.
To conclude the project, the Be Kind “Cancioneiro” (collection of old song) was recorded, the Tradicioneiro (Collection of old songs and traditions) was released, and Be Kind Be Happy Villa event was organised.
Environmental Education
To Be students develop activities in the area of science and the environment, including experimental science classes, project development and school visits, always prioritising practical methodologies and interaction with natural elements.
Practices of contribution and citizenship are promoted in the search for solutions that make it possible to improve the quality of life at school and in the community.
We want to educate more conscientious citizens who contribute in an informed and active way to the Man-Nature balance.
To Be Schools aim to be places where education about sustainability takes place, undertaking good practices in respecting environmental values and preserving the environment.
